As we all know dinning room is a place where all members of the family sit and eat together. So we must take care as where to make this room so that it not only helps in eating properly but also is favorable for the members of the house.
As per vastu dinning room should be either on East, West or South potion of the house.It can be an independent room or it can also be in continuation of kitchen, depending on the house.
Besides selecting the room there are other things also that one must keep in mind. They are -
1. If the room is painted in pink or orange color so that it helps in stimulating the appetite.
2. The table should be so arranged that the head of the family or his wife or his eldest son occupies the south, west, or south-west chair of the dinning table.
3. Best is to have a rectangular or square dinning table.
4. Dinning table should not be of any irregular shape.
5.Dinning table should be away from the wall.
This room should have a conducive atmosphere, and help bringing the members of the family together.

At tables like that is when I had the most enjoyment. They were at my friends homes in the country when I was younger and was invited to stay for a week or two.Do not think I would be able to stay in a room with pink walls, now some orange would be OK but not all walls a solid orange. Basically I prefer an off white wall so that i can enjoy the texture and color of the ingredients that are on the table.
Now those times seem to be forgotten the the large cities. people seem to never take the time to sit and eat together any more. parents working opposite or conflicting hours, children more interested in sitting by computers or listening to their IPods or texing their friends.
A day of years gone by...:-( ... *sigh* ... Oh, and no pink...;-).
My dinikng room iks separate from my kitchen table, The dining rom is more formal. Not sure where it faces. The kitchen is wihite and my accents are in green and ivy

I would like to have a dining room like that someday. The size constraint of mine can only make me put the table very close to the green wall. My family can sit around it only if I have cleared the table of cooking utencils(I have no cabinet).
It is true pink and orange increase appetite but they are too strong for my liking. Some of the my plates and bowls are in orange though, the free gifts for my purchase of toothpaste and "Maggie' instant noodles.
I see that most of you have the color problem.See if you don't like pink or orange it is not necessary that you paint the whole wall with that color. Depending on one's taste you can color some shelf or make use of that color in many other ways.That's why consultation is required so that as per ones requirement the things can be adjusted to make it beneficial for on. This was a general tip and not personalized tip.The main aim of it is to increase the appetite.You can use these colors in combination also.e.g white and orange or yellow and orange etc. depending on place and many other things.
